​Spinal Release Yoga

A boutique therapeutic yoga experience. Specialized propping, personal attention, and accessible poses for depth and quietude. These classes are profound + unique and especially designed to take people of all body-types swiftly, reliably and easily to inner bliss, pain relief and quiet mind through the release of core tension. These classes are a process of unravelling the deepest layers of tension in your body + psyche... do NOT expect a "workout" or anything that looks like the cover of a yoga magazine. This is true yoga. DO expect to Gain ease, spinal flexibility, openness and inner joy... from your very first class. Focus on the most essential poses and practices for deep release and healing. Learn effective ways of releasing the core muscles through your pelvis and ribcage, that will give you true flexibility, from the inside out. New students with no previous experience are welcome and find the practice profoundly accessible, while, experienced yogis discover an authentic practice that takes them inward like no other yoga has before.  ​


Prenatal Spinal Release Yogis

For all Mamas in the 2nd + 3rd Trimester
Open your body, mind and heart for conception, prenatal comfort, smooth delivery and easeful postnatal healing. Mother and baby will benefit from the specialized pelvic release, heart opening, and quieting of the mind and nervous system that Spinal Release yoga provides with special props and poses for each stage of pregnancy. The benefits of Deep Release Yoga during pregnancy include improved physical comfort, increased energy, relief of low back pain, protection of your ligaments, relaxation that will help you during pregnancy and labor, stamina and better posture. You will also benefit from Yoga Therapy during pregnancy. If you are new to Deep Release Yoga, you  may begin classes after completing your first trimester.  Pregnant mamas can join any class with Kaya, for extra care with poses and propping that are just right for your stage of pregnancy.  If you have friends who are pregnant and want to start a class for 4 or more people, contact Kaya.  PLUS!  Yoga Therapy Class {not currently available}

A hybrid between a private yoga therapy session and a class. Kaya and an assistant make sure you get extra attention and hands-on adjustments in the poses for maximum bliss - this is the spa yoga experience.  Each class includes release poses for the whole spine, a lunge-like release without a lunge, hands-on adjustments, extra cozy propping, soft lighting, deep relaxation, silent pauses between the poses and individual attention. You will float home in your own personal yoga bubble. 
This class runs as a 3-week series, contact Kaya to preregister.

Deep Release Yoga is a restorative and inward oriented form of yoga. You are guided and supported through a thoughtful sequence of therapeutic poses that release of the tension in the muscles that attach to the spine. The result is a quieting of your mind and a rejuvenation of your whole body.

Classes, workshops and sessions in Restorative Yoga Therapy, Yoga, Ayurveda, teacher Mentoring and Yoga Philosophy in the Bay Area (Emeryville), Northern California and by phone. With nearly 2,000 hours training in Svaroopa® Yoga, Kaya has also spent over a decade in deep formal study of classical Hatha Yoga, the Vedic Tradition, Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Yoga.  Students attend Kaya's yoga classes and sessions from Berkeley, San Francisco, Oakland and Marin.

Kaya is the founder of SRY™ which is based in the full spectrum of the Vedic yoga tradition. She has been teaching therapeutic restorative yoga therapy since 2001. Kaya's work is healing, transformative, deeply rejuvenating and empowers her student and clients with wisdom and inner experience. Her trained in the full spectrum of the Vedic Tradition includes Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Prenatal Yoga, Ayurveda, Women's Health, Eastern Anatomy, Sanskrit, Vedic Astrology and Vedanta Philosophy.
