Too Stretchy Type!

Understand and work with your hypermobile body-mind
Registration BELOW!
“Oh Kaya, If you had thought 'what components of a workshop would be most perfect for Linda?' I can assure you that you hit the nail on the head!!! Prior, I had been experiencing a lot of general and free floating distress (inability to sleep, relax, or even feel OK)  and found comfort in the direction and information you provided. At one point, I felt like falling to the ground and sobbing; your words were such a relief as were the poses.  And, my husband got a big laugh when I told him what you said about what husbands experience having hypermobile spouses  So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.” - L.O., longtime Yoga student, Sacramento CA {following the Too Stretchy Type workshop}

Too-Stretchy-Type
Recovery
from Hypermobility Workshop, with Kaya

Sunday December 4th, 9:30am-12:30pm {5 SPOTS LEFT!}
At Emeryville Yoga Therapy Center

Hypermobility is Kaya's area of expertise. Having recovered her own body from severe hyperflexibility and her mind and life from the coinciding mental and emotional patterns, she has specialized in working with dancers, yogis and athletes who suffer with this unique issue. This workshop is a rare opportunity to get into the "nitty gritty" of some of the personality components of this body-type that are holding you back in your life from true connection, inner peace and ease.

You may seem to move easily and far into stretches or yoga poses {or were very flexible in your youth but have become limited, brittle and susceptible to injury as you age}, and are living in pain or with a very busy mind. The hyper-mobile body-type (which has intriguing mental-emotional patterns to match!) is the one many experienced yoga students have. Others say "wow lucky you are so flexible", while you are questioning whether something is wrong because of the pain in the joints, back, or neck. Furthermore, while folks with hyper-mobile joints can appear to achieve physical poses with ease, they are often obstructed in experiencing the quiet mind that yoga is designed to cultivate.

The workshop includes direct experience of the practices in an extended deep release yoga class + a lecture and discussion of the physical and psychological components of hypermobility.

Common characteristics of hypermobile people...

  • Underweight or overweight
  • Excess mental activity - either over-worrying or over-strategizing
  • Difficulty making decisions
  • People-pleasing
  • Perfectionist
  • Fear
  • Insomnia
  • Join pain
  • Pain when sitting still {have to keep moving}
  • Attractive + female {yes, seriously}
  • Background in dance, circus performance or gymnastics
  • Shape-shifting personality
  • Fibromialgia, Chronic Fatigue or Lymes

In this workshop we...

  • Pair blissful deep release and lengthening of deep spinal muscles with stabilization and recovery of overstretched ligaments.
  • Explore specialized props and alignments that protect the joints to allow true release of the deepest muscles of the body - the spinal muscles.
  • Learn about the dangers of hypermobility, and important anatomical "dos & don'ts" that so many yoga teachers and students don't know.
  • Gain insight into the mental and emotional patterns that usually accompany hypermobility.
  • Learn specialized propping and alignment tips to support you in your classes and home practice
  • Gain an understanding of how to modify any yoga pose to make it more safe and effective for you.
  • Leave with a palpable experience of quiet mind that happens easily when the body can finally let go at the deepest level.
Half Day Workshop - For Everyone
Sunday December 4 {9:30am-12:30pm}
Empowers your your ability to be more successful and safe in classes and offers a powerful introduction to understanding anatomical principles and underlying mental tendencies of the hyperflexible body-mind type.
